Review backlog update

Approvals and credit issuance are currently slower than usual. Here is exactly why, and what we are doing about it.

What is happening

Over the past weeks we have received an unusually high volume of applications and audio submissions — far beyond our normal review capacity. As a result, a significant backlog has built up, and many contributors are waiting longer than usual for application decisions, submission reviews, and credit issuance.

Nothing is lost and nothing is being ignored. Every pending application and submission is queued and will be reviewed. We are working through the backlog continuously, oldest first, and we are adding review capacity. A pending status is not a rejection — it simply has not reached the front of the queue yet.

Why reviews take time

VoiceData audio is used to train production AI systems, so every recording must meet a high, verifiable quality bar before it is paid. Each submission passes two stages: an automated audio-quality pipeline, followed by a human reviewer who listens before any credits are issued. We deliberately do not rush this step — approving unusable audio would devalue the work of every contributor who records carefully.

What our review checks

  • Audio quality. Clear, intelligible speech: signal-to-noise ratio, clipping, background noise, silence, and loudness are all measured automatically before a human listens.
  • Correct language. The recording must be in the task’s language. Submitting a different language than the task asks for is rejected, and deliberate repeat offenses can lead to account removal.
  • Natural, unscripted speech. Conversation tasks require genuine two-sided dialogue — both speakers active, real reactions and follow-ups. Monologues, interview-style turns, or read-aloud scripts do not qualify.
  • Authenticity. Voice-liveness checks, duplicate detection, and speaker-track analysis catch replayed, synthetic, or reused audio.
  • Consent and policy. Recording consent, account eligibility, and task instructions must all be satisfied.

What this means for you

  • Credits are issued when a submission is approved — pending work stays queued and safe.
  • No action is needed from you; you do not need to contact support about a pending review.
  • Please do not re-upload the same recording — duplicates are detected automatically and only make the queue longer for everyone.
  • Every rejection includes the specific reason, so you know exactly what to change.

How your data is used — approved vs. rejected

  • Approved recordings are the only ones that enter the datasets we build and license, exactly as described in the upload agreement you signed — and they are what you are paid for.
  • Rejected recordings are not sold, licensed, or included in any dataset. They are retained only for review integrity — so you can dispute a decision and so our audit trail stays complete — and are then deleted under our retention policy.
  • Pending recordings are stored securely and are not used for anything until a reviewer approves them.
  • You can request deletion of your data at any time from account settings, as covered in our privacy notice.

Our commitment

We know delayed reviews mean delayed earnings, and we take that seriously. The backlog is shrinking daily, approvals and payouts continue throughout, and we will keep this page updated until review times are back to normal. Thank you for your patience — and for the quality of the work you submit.
